Week 33 was a rough one to say the least.
On Sunday, June 29th Corey and I had to make one of the hardest decisions we will ever have to face. We put Dakota down. She stopped taking her medication and wouldn't eat or drink and we knew it was time. It didn't make the day any easier though. We only told our parents and that was it. She is a bit too close to our hearts to blurt out to friends and post anything on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I am still in the denial stage I think. Maybe if I do not say anything it means it isn't real?
It started week 33 off a bit rough and.... then it got worse....
On Tuesday, July 1st (just one day shy of 33 weeks) I had an appt with Dr. B. He was running on time which was awesome - I am working on being calm when waiting, but I am a work in progress. My weight has stayed the same the last 4-6 weeks, which is fine since I have already gained 30 pounds. My BP was great and I was sent into my patient room. When Dr B came in he had a young woman with her who was in medical school. He had her run the appointment, but he was there to verify everything. She took my belly measurements and said it seemed small so he double checked. Yep, I was measuring just over 30cm when I should have been at least 31. The centimeter measurement should line up with the week you are on, or no more than two up or two down. He said I only grew half a centimeter in the past two weeks. Then she tried to find Hayden's hearbeat but had a hard time. Turns out everything was fine there.
Here is where it got bad: Dr. B said that me measuring small, not evening growing 1 cm in 2 weeks, and me not gaining any weight warranted an ultrasound. I panicked, but only on the inside (of course). I didn't want to look crazy! He said it could be nothing, or it could be low amniotic fluid or a growth restriction. I was sent to the front counter to schedule an ultrasound and they couldn't get me in until the next day. I had to stay in panick mode all day - and at work!
I tried to stay calm and went to my ultrasound appointment the next morning and my mom came with me. Turns out everything was PERFECT! More than perfect, Hayden was even measuring 6 days ahead! I guess I should be happy that she is doing just fine, she is mesuring big, and I am measuring small. Maybe it means I will lose this big belly fast haha! After that I was finally able to calm down, but what a stressful few days!
The 4th of July was on Friday this year and I invited our close family and friends over to have a BBQ, light off a few sparklers, and watch the fireworks in our backyard. We had a great time and I am so glad I could pull it together to have everyone over. It was a great way to see a lot of people before Hayden arrives.
I am currently in week 34 (as of yesterday) and this weekend Corey and I are doing a "stay-cation" to Snowbird from Friday to Sunday. Jensen will be with my in-laws on Friday and with my mom on Saturday. I am excited to get away to cooler weather and enjoy my time with Corey before Hayden arrives. I can't believe I now have less than 5 weeks to go! EEEKKKK! I cannot wait!
