He's ALIVE

I felt Baby's first kick last night and it was incredible! I see why everyone gets so excited this experience and it is almost like a secret that only mom's can share. Soon dad will be able to feel him on the outside, but it doesn't really do justice what it is like on the inside. I felt like he was a ninja in there last night as he was moving all over the place. I am actually feeling him right now while at my desk at work. How crazy! I am in love with him!

Last night I picked our newborn photographer- it is Mary Clarke with DMC Photography. She has a beautiful home she runs her business out of. She is super sweet and has a fabulous set up in her basement that I don't know if I could describe even if I tried. She definitely knows the tricks for having amazing and unique backgrounds and no - it is not a green screen! I can't wait for our first family photos and for her to capture his first few days with us. I also picked our maternity photographer - Dustin Izatt. He did them for someone else I know and I fell in love with her pictures. He is going to cost me a small forturne, but it is the look I am going for and they are pictures I would be proud to show off and hang in our home.

Today is Marissa's birthday and we are getting together for dinner and cake at my mom's house. I got her some cute white shoes that I hope she likes. At Morgan's birthday celebration over a month ago she was mentioning how much she wanted white shoes that weren't gym shoes. Since I know she likes the Pumas that my mom and I have I got her some of those.

The doctor's appointment this morning went well. He said that all the blood work came back negative for tests such as Down Syndrome which is fabulous. Glad to have a perfect, healthy little man in there! He said that according to my belly measurements I am right on track and everything is perfect. I did however gain 10 pounds in one month! Holy cow! I gained a bit in the beginning and then the last appointment I gained about 2.5 pounds. I can't believed I gained this much! I hope it was just a big month and it tapers off. Dr B didn't say anything about it and said it isn't concerning right now. My next appointment is in 5 weeks (Dr will be on vaca at 4 weeks) and he said he will be sending me home with the glucose test stuff so that I will get tested at the appointment after that.

Now... to get back to work and focus.... I love these kicks so much that I lose my train of thought!

21 weeks

I believe tomorrow is 21 weeks if I have been counting right. I must say that time is going by much faster than it was when I was really sick. I get a lot of aches and pains, but I would rather have that over throwing up and not wanting to eat anything but bread. At 21 weeks baby is the size of a banana at 12.7 ounces and 10.5 inches from head to bum. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning where I am sure he will go over my ultrasound pictures and discuss size. The tech said she thought my little man was a little bigger than what I figured so I am sure I will know tomorrow.

Saturday was a fun day! Corey and I both got hair cuts. My hair is now about 6 inches shorter with very short side bangs and a bit lighter. It was time for a summer hair do! When I was done I grabbed my mom and we headed off to Babies R Us. We picked out Baby's furniture and got the crib (w/conversion kit), long dresser, and glider with the ottomon. The three big pieces should be here within 1-2 weeks so I better get busy in the guest room - I still haven't touched it yet!

Thankful and excited

After we found out that our baby is a boy - who Corey is calling "Rufus" everything seems so much better and much more real. Friday we got off early from work for getting our goal so I went shopping! I bought a maternity swimsuit (for the pool and maybe prenatal water aerobic classes), a few clearance items (winter clothes!) for our Rufus and a fabulous tea at Nordstrom while looking at their thousands of shoes. I need new sandals so bad. I guess I am glad I didn't buy any though since the weather went from 80 to 50 and rainy! Guess I can wait just a few more weeks.

Knowing what we are having makes cleaning out the office so much more fun. I guess knowing what we can put back in there (crib, etc) is the exciting part. I really need to start working on that room though and hopefully Corey will be a big help since everything is so bulky. I did start on the closet, but it has a long way to go. The babies closet is still going to be for a lot of our storage and my scrapbook stuff, but there is plenty that can be taken out and stored somewhere else or thrown away. I started the organizing part so that I can see what we even have in there. Trust me, it is a huge closet for a second bedroom - I wish when I was a kid I had a walk-in!

My mom and I plan to go look at furniture soon and Babies R Us is having a huge sale. Hopefully we get something (crib, dresser, glider) for a good deal! They said that all nursery furniture is 20% off and when you pay $500.00 for a crib you could $100 off! Now that is a great deal if you ask me! Mom is in Vegas until Friday evening so hopefully we have time to run around this weekend. Corey may be hunting so it could be a fun girly weekend. If not, he is welcome to join us and help pick stuff out. Oh and I get my hair done Saturday - finally!

I am also excited to get maternity pictures taken. I was in contact with Dustin Izatt today and decided even though he charges a small fortune (and I am not kidding!) I think he has the unique look I am wanting. I don't want the trashy belly shots that some people have. Although some are classy, some are a little scary and it is not my style. I couldn't handle being half naked when I wasn't pregnant! I may have him do a few belly shots but we will see. Sounds like I will get those done in August - which is going to be a very busy month. I will be wrapping up school, doing both baby showers (from both mamas), our one year anniversary is the first weekend of August... oh boy! So much going on this summer!

Better get back to work! I had an awful migraine yesterday and stayed home. 20 weeks tomorrow! WOO HOO! Half way there! Now that is a big reason to be thankful and excited! Baby is the size of a Cantaloupe! WOW! 6.5-7 inches and 11 ounces!

Guess what?

It's a BOY! I was totally wrong! I should have stuck with my original intuition of thinking it was a boy. My mom, dad, and Corey were right! I am sure a lot of others guest boy too, but that was immediate family that guessed. I bet my dad knew a few weeks ago and was holding it over my head! I am sure he is looking down on my huge smile today feeling so proud! I can feel it!

The ultrasound was absolutely amazing! I got some great photos and they even burned them on a disc for me. He is definitely a boy and proud of his little pee-pee hanging out there haha! He has a cute little nose and he was moving like crazy. In about two seconds he flipped onto his stomach and pushed his feet down so he was on his tip-toes. It was so cute, but difficult from there on out to get shots of him. He is measuring bigger than expected (from what websites say). The ultrasound tech said that he is around 8 inches and weighing in at about 10-11 ounces. According to babycenter.com he is the size of large mango and is 6 iches and 8.5 ounces. I guess that isn't off by too much.

I still can't feel him, but hopefully in the next few weeks.

19 weeks - oh baby!

Today could not go fast enough - I am so anxious for tomorrow morning that I almost feel sick! I need to calm down!

I am officially in my 19th week which means that baby is the size of large mango coming in around 6 inches and 8.5-9 ounces. I figured if you measured legs baby would be about 8 inches long! My belly looks like it is definitely holding something that ways much more than 8.5 ounces!

Double date dinner tonight with Jackie and Zac at Olive Garden and then off to bed to wake up early for my appointment. When you have ultrasounds they require you drink at least 24 ounces of water an hour before your appointment and to go to to the restroom until after the ultrasound. I have no idea why you have to have a full bladder and I am about to Google it!

I will post tomorrow with what Baby Paskett is!

Can't wait for Thursday

Thursday May 12th (two days from now) I will know what we are having! I am so freakin excited I can hardly stand it! I am still thinking it is a girl, but surprisingly a lot of people are thinking boy. Some say it is because of my bump and some just think that is what we are having. Corey would like a boy and I would love a boy too, so we will know soon (not soon enought!) what Monkey is! We asked both of our mommy's to join us so that will be really fun to share it with them. I know that I didn't involve many people in the wedding process but I feel that babies are totally different. I am growing our family and I want my family to be involved in that.

I am really excited to start working on the nursery too. I started working on cleaning out Baby's closet, but I feel I made a bigger mess. At least one section is organized! My goal was to have the room empty and organized in May, but now I am shooting for June. I want to have it all done in my second trimester so that I am not too big and in too much pain to do it. I know I will need help now, but I don't want to be completely dependant on Corey doing all of it. Hopefully by the end of the month I will have everything organized and then Corey can get help getting all the big furniture out of the office/guest room. We have to move the desk into the dining area, store the bed and nail table in the garage, move out his book shelf (not sure where), and the black shelfs by the others in the kitchen. We definitely have a lot of big furniture in that room. It will be weird to see it empty for a while!

School started again last night and I was not in the mood! I ended up crying all the way home and almost all night. It was a rough day and I was missing my daddy. Today is a better day and I feeling more optimistic. I just wish he was here to help me with all the baby stuff that I need to research! I know that being back in school is making my dad proud and there is no way I could quit now, plus I am eager to finally graduate this time. I know it is going to be really hard to finish school when our baby is here, but I am determined to make it work.

Today is made for venting

I had a fabulous weekend with my family! Friday night I didn't do anything but relax at home. Saturday I woke up VERY early and went with my mom, Marissa, and Rylee to the Gateway to walk the 5k for Race for the Cure. It was really hard about 3/4 of the way through but I am glad that I made it. I actually felt pretty proud of myself for walking that far. We went shopping at Old Navy and my mom bought me some maternity clothes for the summer that should last a few months. I am finally starting to buy bigger shirts so they will last longer than a few weeks. My mom and I ran a few more errands and then I went home to show my mom how to cut vinyl. It was a really fun day with my family. I went to bed early because my legs hurt so bad. I got leg cramps at 3 am that morning before the walk which probably made the 5k that much harder. I was just ready to lay down that night. Sunday I laid in bed until I was forced to get up. It was Mother's Day and Corey was so sweet and gave me a card (that had Monkey's ultrasound printed in it) and the movie Cars. I love Pixar movies and it will be great to start a collection now for our little one. We met my family for brunch at Mimi's Cafe and I had the best french toast! I will probably always get that now. My mom gave me a big bottle of lotion and maternity summer pjs that are so cute! We hung out at my mom's house after and then headed over to Corey's parent's house for a BBQ. The weather turned ugly yesterday and we had to eat inside. We hung out for a few hours and got home before 7. I watched a movie in bed and crashed fairly early. I keep getting the leg cramps that I just want to lay down.

Today has been a rough day, but I guess those are to be expected. Between the horrible leg cramps that I can't get rid of and the rib pain I feel like I am losing my mind. I am really missing my daddy today too and people keep asking me how I am doing (regarding my dad) so it just puts me into a funk and depression. I am still trying to cope and the shock feeling is gone so hopefully people understand when I don't want to talk. It is by far the worst thing that has ever happened to me and nothing is ever going to make it all better. Some days (like today) all I feel like doing is crying. I guess that is okay though and I will make sure to feel my emotions rather than bottling them up.

Tomorrow is going to be a better day.

Baby bump watch: Week 15.5

Here is one picture I took on my phone when we were in Colorado of my bump. I can't believe how much it changed in 6 days from the last picture I have on here at almost 15 weeks. So fun and yet so crazy! Oh and these are new clothes in the picture that I love... I ended up in Colorado without any pants and had to go shopping. Maybe I subcontiously did that? Hmmmm....

Week 18

No more excuses - I really need to post photos soon! I still haven't had a chance (or the patience) to figure out how to load the pictures off my new camera, but I am sure Corey could do it for me. I will have him take pictures today or tomorrow since that marks 18 weeks and then we will load them. My belly looks so different from the last pictures on here at week 14 or 15. I am loving my belly - although I feel very large. I guess when you work hard to eat well and exercise to keep a flat stomach, it is hard to see it grow. At least I am growing life in there and not cheeseburgers!

Things have still been really hard since losing my dad and I am not sleeping well. I can't get over the thought that he suffered in his last hours and that no one was there to help or comfort him. I keep getting told that he wasn't alone and that he wasn't suffering because God took care of him. I really want to believe that. I am pretty sure that if I didn't believe in some form of God that I wouldn't be as optimistic about the situation as I am. I am trying to stay positive and I am trying to keep my stress level down because I don't want to cause any harm to my baby. I know my dad would want me to celebrate his life and to be happy that he is no longer in pain. I still reference my parents a lot (not just my mom) and then I realize that I no longer have a dad to turn to. My dad was my rock and helped me so much emotionally and finacially and was always a good listener. No one will ever replace him! I believe that he is watching over me and my baby every day and he can't wait for me to the mom I always talked about being.

Tomorrow marks 18 weeks and baby will be the size of a sweet potato- about 5.5-6 inches and weighing about 7 ounces. I am finally feeling a lot better and no longer throw up all the time. I am only taking nausea medicine about once a day and that is if it is a bad day; otherwise I can go all day without taking anything. Last week however I came down with a really bad cold and decided to go to Instacare on Sunday night since I was not getting any better and thought I may have ear infections. I did not have ear infections, but I did have a sinus infection so I am on antibiotics which finally seem to be working today. Lots of drainage and my ears are starting to feel better.

Last Tuesday (April 26th) I went to see Dr B and I took my mom with me. We heard Baby's heartbeat and my mom was thrilled. Corey and I decided to invite our Mommy's to our ultrasound appointment that is on May 12th (9 days to go!). I am so excited to find out what we are having. I think once we know it will give me motivation to clean out the guest room that will be turned into the nursery. I am still thinking we are having a girl, but we will know for sure in just over a week. Corey is leaning towards a boy, so one of us has to be right!

Mother's day is on Sunday and I know all the holidays are hard for my mom without my dad here, but we are all here for her and helping her get through things. No better time to celebrate what an amazing woman my mom is! I think we will do brunch and then I will probably figure out if Corey's family is doing anything. Rylee's second birthday was just two days ago and we had a monkey themed birthday party - I love monkeys! The party was low-key which was great and I think we all had a good time. Rylee sure loves money!
