November {13 months}

Yet another month has gone and I haven't written. Little Jensen sure keeps us on our toes at all times!

Jensen - here are the things you love and are right now
You love to give Mom and Dad the oven mits and have us put them on and chase you around the house.
You love when we chase you with the toy corn popper too. Especially with the mittens on
You love to give hugs and cuddle. Not so much kisses though.
You are getting better at eating but you are pretty picky. Luckily you love Mac & Cheese just like your mama
You are finally good at wearing shoes and don't cry to take them off. Good thing such Gma buys you expensive Puma shoes!
You love playing with pots and pans still and playing with all the plastic rubbermaid containers
You love playing with plastic wrap and plastic bags which is awful since it is one thing you are supposed to keep away from kiddos when they are little.
You loved snacking on Mama's pumpkin chocolate chip cookies
You love painting and have two pretty canvases and a pumpkin done. Yes, Mama still has them and has also taken pictures of them
You love your toy Scout dog and I think you really like that he says your name
You love to dance to music

You and Mama have been sick this week and neither one of you are getting much sleep. It's no fun being sick! Hopefully we get rid of this bug soon and go back to being happy and playful.

I love you!

12 months

Wow Bubba! Can you believe you are already a year old!?

The past few months have been so busy that I have a hard time remembering to get on and blog updates about you. I try to do it at least once a month so that I can try to at least keep track of the past 4 weeks and all the new things about you.

Your 1st birthday was on October 6th and your great aunt Uan (susan) and Sheila flew in to Salt Lake to celebrate with you. Uan stayed with us and it was fun having our first house guest. Too bad she is gluten and dairy free and we couldn't feed her! You know how I love to cook for a crowd (when I have time). Your rock star party was a hit and renting the Lone Peak Indoor Pavillion in Sandy was definitely the best decision I could have made! Zack (your daddy's best friend) took all the pictures at your party and he did a great job. You loved smashing your cake and you decided to share it with Daddy and me which was pretty hilarious. We have so many great pictures that will last us a life time. You got a ton of new toys that you play with daily including a Cars (car) from Gma that you can drive yourself, a lot of balls, books, and clothes, a winter snow suit, a wagon, and a Thomas the Train toy from Sheila that you love too. You now have a complete wardrobe for the next 6 months - woo hoo!

This last month has been so much fun to watch you. You are really coming into your own. We took you to see Dr. Omura on October 9th for your 1 year old check-up and you couldn't be healthier! He said you are about 20 pounds and 29 (and something) inches long/tall. You sure are a growing boy! He said you haven't hit a growth spurt in a while and your weight is a little low, but that is because you have been walking for 3 months and you burn all of your calories you consume. He said you need to stop drinking so much milk in the day (cut back to 24 ounces in a day) and eat more solid foods and 3 actual meals. The meals have definitely been interesting... you prefer to feed yourself and you do not want help. It becomes a huge mess when you take the spoon to your yogurt! You can actually get some yogurt on the spoon and make it to your mouth, but a lot of it gushes out the sides of your mouth since you slide the spoon into your mouth instead of opening your mouth all the way. It is pretty funny to watch. You sure are proud of yourself when you get large pieces of food to take bites of instead of us breaking your food down for you.
You love (to name a few): noodles, cheese, peanut butter, raisins, yogurt, cheerios, chips, pears. Food isn't the only thing you enjoy...

You absolutely love your daddy. which you can now successfully say daddy (and hi). You love to climb up the stairs and on furniture. You love going down the stairs too (backwards). You LOVE playing on mama and daddy's big bed and playing in our pillows. You find it hilarious. You love spending your weekdays with your grandma Jill and your weekends catching up with Gma. You are so smart and catch on to what daddy and I are doing right away. You now can run and you are so much better on your feet. Speaking of feet... Gma bought you a pair of See Kai Run shoes and you actually keep them on and walk without crying and freaking out until we take them off. Success in the shoe department!

You are now babbling like crazy and I know that once you get a few more words down you will probably be speaking in full sentences! You really get going and you get so loud that your dad and I can't help but wonder what you are saying to us. You are still such an amazingly happy boy! You are finally sleeping a little better through the night. You still have your normal night time routine, but we just stopped our last night time nursing session on October 22nd so no more boobies for you! You still go down at 8 pm and you typically wake up around 11. Daddy gets up and gives you a bottle and you go back down. You typically wake back up around 5:30 to 6am and I get up with you. I feed you a bottle and you come snuggle with me in bed until I get up at 6:30. Daddy takes over from there until I am done getting ready and then I get you dressed and ready for the day. Our routine works out well and I feel that the stability is good for you. I can't wait until you sleep through the night though! You have a few times recently, but it is still a pretty rare thing. Hopefully having a more full belly at night you will sleep better.

This post is huge! I will have to write more often! Off for now...

11 {months}

Wow how time flies by - I know I say that every month, but that is because it couldn't be more true

Today is Sept 12th which means there is actually less than 1 month until your birthday. In the past month...

You have figured out how to go down the stairs by scooting down on your belly
I call you Peanut, Bubba, Monkey, and Jensen Callan (when you are in trouble)
You walk as fast as I do, but not yet running
You love playing with Dakota still, but I think she has finally had it with you pulling her hair all the time and trying to hit her with your toys.
You still go to Grandma Jills Monday - Friday and love it there. She definitely knows how to love and spoil you!
We spend a few days a week visiting with G-Ma and you love laughing with her. She sure is silly!
You love playing in the dirt in the front of the house. G-Ma says you are "all boy" and that couldn't be more true.
You love drinking water from the bath tub, even when it is gross. I try not to let you, but you do it anyway.
You still wake up during the night a few times. Hopefully this will change soon so Mom and Dad can finally get some sleep! I hear sleeping patterns get better around 12-18 months old
You are getting better at eating people food and actually swallowing it.
You are still wearing 9-12 month clothes, but they are definitely getting tight.
You still have the same 6 teeth you have had for the past month or two. You have 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. This past week you have been slobbering everywhere and pretty uncomfortable so I think more are on there way.

Now that you are 11 months old I have to look into weaning as I can only use the mother's room at work until you are 1. I can't believe I am not ready to do this yet! I still give you formula for nearly half of your feedings, but I still loving knowing that I am giving you the best milk there is available. Hopefully I figure out how to wean so I don't have to pump anymore during the day and gradually wean you from your night feedings. I sure do love the bond we have that no one else can have with you. We will find other ways to bond though - I know it!

Not much else is new. Still working hard on the house (well, your dad is) and we are finally hanging up pictures and getting more settled. I really love having a house for our perfect little family.

In the mean time I have been planning your first birthday and I am SO excited. We just got your 1st birthday pictures done on Monday the 10th and I cannot wait to see how they turned out. We went to Mary again with DMC - we sure do love her and her work and you like her too. You loved smashing your birthday cake all over. I am so glad you had fun and we have pictures to prove it. Move over 11 months - this Rock Star will be 1 soon!

Move over 9 months

So, I am the worst blogger ever! Life has been crazy these past two months since I last did an update. Corey and I have been working hard on the house. I graduated University of Phoenix on 7/29 (with a 3.6 GPA), and Jensen keeps us running, literally. My brother also moved to Washington with his family on 8/5 for work.

9 month old Jensen:
Loves food, but holds it in his cheeks. Yep, I call him a chipmunk. He doesn't swallow it well.
Took first steps on June 30th
9 month check-up went well. He is around the 50-75% in both height and weight.
He wears 6-9 months - just like his age
He loves to say dada
Loves the bath and splashing and getting mama wet
Loves to tackle his stuffed animals and then eat them (too cute to watch!)
Loves bread just like his mama
Makes all sorts of grunting sounds
Has the best laugh and is super ticklish
Loves to play with Dakota and her toys - play tug a war
Pro at throwing things down the stairs
Loves throwing the ball in the house and to Dakota

10 month old Jensen:
Getting better at swallowing table foods, but still holding it in his cheeks. Glad he is doing better with this.
Eats his Plum Organics food directly from the pouch without help and eats it all
Walks so fast everywhere we go
Hates wearing shoes - EVERY kind no matter how soft and light. Only socks and barefeet for now
Loves to pull and push the corn popper toy around the house
LOVES the water- the pool, tub, and the hose

Still loves and does the same 9 month old stuff and learning new things every day

{eight}

Jensen,

You turned 8 months yesterday! I cannot believe where the time has gone. I try to remember that each day and each moment is special because they go by so fast.
What you are up to these days:
You crawl like a maniac - so fast!
You are a pro at going up the stairs
You have mastered how to stand against anything including the wall
You can stand for a little bit on your own without holding furniture
You can also get yourself into a standing position without needing furniture or anything to hold onto
You have fallen in love with a stuffed monkey and want to sleep with it
You have not gotten any more teeth - still have the bottom 2 and top 2
You LOVE food and prefer the mixed pouches that hold fruits and veggies in one
You love hearing your own voice and scream a lot for no reason
You like seeing yourself in the mirror
Your favorite song is still itsy bity spider and it can always calm you down
You are still trying to figure out Dakota and always pull her hair (which she hates)
You love getting watched by your grandma 5 times a week
You still love the water and try to catch it in your hands when coming out of a faucet
You are definitely more interested in cell phones, remotes, and Dakota's water bowl than any baby toy
You still love your jumperoo and we put you in it in the morning when getting ready
You love cuddling with your dad and sleeping on his chest
You like books, but only to play with. You are currently too interested in eating the book than listening
to be in read to you

JUNE?

Oh my gosh it has been nearly a month since I posted! That is awful considering how much happens in a day let alone a month! I am going to have to refer to Facebook status updates to remember what happened in the past month, but the major would be we closed on our house and moved!

We closed on May 10th and got keys on May 11th. That is a day I will never forget! Amie is the best realtor and now a great friend and we couldn't have done it without her. She even gave us such a sweet, personalized gift at closing (a potted pink plant w/Kalai lyrics engraged on the pot). Corey immediately started working on the main bathroom -ripping it out and putting it back together. I will have to find pictures of the before and post them. It is a total 180!

That Saturday (May 12th) was Race for the Cure downtown right around the Salt Lake library. Mom, Marissa, Rylee, Jensen, and myself all walked. Jensen hated the stroller within the first mile and I carried him the Ergo Carrier the rest of the way - I was a sweaty mess when it was over. It was fun though and I am always up for supporting a good cause and getting some good exercise at the same time.

The next day (Sunday the 13th) was my first official Mother's Day! We met with my family at Ihop in Sandy for an early breakfast. We can by our house to show Morgan and than that afternoon we went to an late lunch/early dinner with Corey's family at Marie Calendars. My mom got me a baby bullet (to make homemade baby food for Jensen) and I gave my mom an engraved necklace that says "gma" in the middle and Rylee and Jensen around the edge. She loves it and hasn't taken it off! Corey's mom gave me a super cute shirt and some candies and I got a pretty plant from grandma and Eileen. Corey got me a really nice card and flowers and ordered me a gift that still isn't here (almost a month later!). He said it shipped this week though so I am excited to see what it is!

The next week or two after that was pretty much a blur of chaos. We had a falling out with Marissa and Morgan about watching Jensen so she no longer babysits 3x a week for us. We did family pictures two days later (the 23rd) which was fun to get done, but a bit awkward. I love Mary with DMC and she can always put me in a good mood for pictures! She did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier with the pictures she got of Jensen (and his cute little teeth). The next day (24th) was Marissa's birthday but we didn't get together. That weekend Corey and I were busy trying to move stuff into the house, work on the bathroom, and I was busy doing finals and Employee Appreciation stuff at work. It was literally chaos - oh and my mom was in Texas for Callie's graduation so I couldn't bug her for help. My in-laws have become our heros for sure! Not only has Jill watched Jensen 2x a week since I went back to work, but she also has been helping us a ton on the weekend watching Jensen so I could pack or do homework or buy stuff for the house. Cal has been to the house every late night and all day on the weekends helping Corey work on the bathroom to get it done by the time we moved in. Jill is now watching Jensen 5x a week until I can figure out a replacement for the other 3 days. I have met with a few people, but no one I really love. One lady I liked charges for all 5x a week which would become very expensive for us so I am still looking around. We want Jensen to be happy and safe and so we do not want to make a rushed decision.

We officially moved into our home over Memorial weekend (3 days of moving!). I finished up my last final for those courses just in time to move last weekend. Jill did a lot of the packing with me and my mom watched Jensen. Corey and Cal moved all the big ideas - tvs, beds, desk, etc. It was a lot of work and we couldn't have done it without them. I need to find a gift for them soon! We still have boxes in a few rooms, but everything is almost put away. It is hard to get anything done after Jensen is asleep because we have to be quiet. Man  - life with him is so different!

I am now officially in my LAST and FINAL 9 weeks of school and couldn't be happier. Hopefully everything calms down and I can get settled in and focused on these last classes and graduate with a good GPA. Right now I have a 3.6 and I don't want to go below that.

Work is going good and I am constantly busy which I love. I am on just about every committee in the building and it keeps me on my toes and involved in other parts of the company. I love the feeling of making others happy and giving back. I feel it is a way of paying it forward and hoping others will do the same.

Jensen is doing good (as always). He is a speed demon now - he is a master crawler! He has also become pretty pro at climbing up on things and standing for a long time and walking along furniture. He can stand without holding onto furniture for a little bit too. Hopefully walking is a little ways away though  - I love that he is mobile, but everything is happening so fast! His top left tooth has broke through and the other one right next to it is breaking through now too. He hasn't been too happy the last few days, but I can't blame him. That is 4 teeth in just over a month! I am still nursing which hasn't been going too great and we have started supplementing with formula. I felt disappointed about it, but not realizing that it doesn't mean I am failing. I am now feeling proud that I have made it this far. Just because I have had to give him some formula (usually one bottle a day) doesn't mean I have to quit nursing or pumping. Hopefully I can get back to exclusively nursing/pumping when my stress levels go down!

Sorry for such a long post, but so much happens in just a day let alone in almost a month! I need to remember to blog at least once a week so the posts aren't pages long.

{seven}

So, Jensen you are officially 7 months old! Boy, where has the time gone? I must say that you keep the days entertaining and they are never a bore.

Here is a quick 7 month update:
You have two teeth
You love the song Itsy Bitsy Spider (with hand actions) and have since you were born
You love food- especially bananas, cereal, pears, and cinnamon
You can offically crawl and you do not scoot on your belly anymore
You can walk across furniture (but only once in a while)
You sleep well and typically only wake up once a night
You babble a lot and get incredibly excited over absolutely nothing
You get so excited that you screech and flap your arms like a bird
You moved into size 3 diapers today, but still wear size 6-9 month clothes
You are still exclusively breastfeed and seem to love it!
You still haven't been sick which we are beyond thankful for
You love being outside and if you are crying you instantly stop when you feel fresh air
You love to pull mamas hair, daddas hair, and Dakota's hair... and not let go
You crawl only for things you shouldn't have like remote controls, power cords, and Dakota's dishes
You absolutely love bath time and bath toys - good thing this is part of the bedtime routine!
You do much better in mamas car than in daddys because you love seeing out the window
You love playing with your cousin Rylee 3x a week and having her wear you out
You have your mama and daddy wrapped around your tiny fingers and we wouldn't trade it for a thing

Tooth #2 and a baby on the move

Holy moly! Jensen would not sleep last night and I am BEYOND exhausted. He only went down for an hour or two before waking up again (right when I was trying to fall asleep) and was up for an hour. Finally got him back down and he got up again at 3. I nursed twice, changed his diaper, etc and he would not go back down. Corey finally grabbed him at 4:30 this morning and put him back down (not sure what time). Corey told me today that his second tooth popped through on the bottom and sure enough  - you can see it and feel it. Poor little man and his teeth! This is his second tooth and the first one came through on 4/21 and today is 5/2! 2 teeth in less than two weeks - I am sure I would freak out!

Another update?!?! He is crawling! He doesn't make it far, but he has the motion down now of moving his arms and his legs! Corey and I caught it on video but only for about two seconds and then he got what he was going after and we couldn't get him to do it again. Never force a baby to do something when it is bed time... it turns ugly! Better start looking into baby gates for the house!

A {decent sized} update

It has been over a week so I figured I better get on it! Not much new to report....
Life has been busy and stressful as usual. I feel like I am neglecting my friends and family for school and work, but it will all settle down soon I am sure.

Work is going really good, but very busy. I can't complain about being busy though (as I always say) and I am so happy that I have a job that I love and want to go to every day. There is going to be a new position opening up that is literally my dream job/career choice. I already submitted my resume for it, so hopefully when it posts I will be able to interview and hopefully get it.

School is going pretty well. I am more than half way done with these courses. The class I thought I would struggle in I am actually doing really well and have 100% through week 5 (out of 9 weeks). My other class I have a B+ and hope to get it to an A by the time my classes are over. I will only have two more classes/one more block before I graduate! As long as nothing crazy happens between now and than I am still set to graduate on July 29th!

Jensen is doing awesome and is going to be 7 months in just five days! I can't believe how fast these months have just flown by. I am so happy and proud to be his mama. He has his first tooth, love foods, is trying to crawl (so funny to watch him rock back and forth and grunt) and rolls to what he wants. He is such a happy baby and loves his family. I am still exclusively breast feeding and I am so happy I have stuck with it. Many of my friends have leaned on me for guidance and support and I love that they feel comfortable coming to me. I am also happy to say that while it hasn't been an easy 7 months, they have been well worth it. I have to take herbal supplements (2 different kinds) at least twice a day just to produce enough and I have to hand pump at work (because my body stopped responding to an electric pump), but it is worth it for his growth and health. He hasn't been sick yet and I haven't either! It is good for the both of us! I love that we can bond over it too and that if I am wound up from my day, that is one thing that calms me down. I will be glad when I am done nursing to get a lot of time and my body back, but I know I will miss it. It is the special time that only he and I have.

We close on our home in one week from today! We were hoping to close tomorrow, but we have to wait on the bank to get a few things done first and approved before we can sign papers. I think we should close by the 8th and have keys within 24 hours after that. Corey and I have discussed redoing the main bathroom before we move in and I am so excited for our first big project that we can do together as husband and wife in OUR own home! Now I just need to prepare myself for being poor for the rest of my life!

Rylee turned 3 today! Her birthday party was on Saturday at a gym and it was so much fun. Jensen even enjoyed bouncing around with me holding him. All the kids loved it and so did the adults. Glad everyone had such a good time celebrating with her. Jensen and I were both so tired when we left that we slept all the way home! Now that is a good way to tell if you had fun or not if you ask me!

This week I am doing little things to focus on myself. I feel like in order to take care of everyone else I need to focus on me every once in a while. I finally went to Ken and got a massage today. Jenn is cutting and coloring my hair on Thursday and my nails are on Sunday. I bought a pair of Toms on Sunday so I got a little shopping in their too (and it wasn't for the house or Jensen). May is going to be fun and busy with a lot of work events (Employee Apprecation Week) and two sets of family photos. I am so excited to get pictures done with my family and then to get updated photos of my little family through DMC. I can't wait. I can't believe how much Jensen has changed since he was a newborn and it will be fun to have her take updated photos of us. I just can't decide what to wear and whether or not to do them inside or outside. I better figure it out soon!

Okay, I should be doing homework and it is getting VERY late for me. Off I go!

{tooth} ache

Super quick announcement (while taking a mini break from my homework) to announce that Jensen cut his first tooth on Saturday 4/21! Our little man sure is growing up!

I love you Bubs!

{Missing} my daddy

Not a single day goes by where I don't think of my dad, how much I miss him and wish he was here to experience all of the things in my life along with me. I also don't have a day that goes by that I don't think about his last day on Earth and how he suffered. I literally still get sick thinking about it, and try to let it go, but I can't (not yet).

The last time I saw my dad was when we went out to dinner for my brother's birthday (which was yesterday by the way) and than I talked to him a lot after that. I didn't see him after because I went to Colorado for Dakota's heart surgery. I talked to my dad a lot during that time because he paid for Dakota's surgery (and yes I still owe them the money for it) and I was pregnant, sick, and not wanting to be there. He kept me calm during that time. I talked to my dad when we got back, but it was Sunday and I had to be to work the next day so I didn't go over there on the weekend like usual.

I talked to my dad on 4/19 (the day he passed away) and the conversation and that day will live forever in my mind and my heart. I will never forget telling him that he sounded like sh*t and that he should go lay down because he was sick and he wasn't sleeping well. He told me that he would probably go lay down that afternoon and try to get some rest before my mom got home. I told him I loved him and to get better soon. The next thing I know, it is just after 6pm and Corey and I are leaving Walmart (grocery shopping for the week) and my mom is on the phone in tears saying that my dad isn't breathing and it isn't good and I need to go to Alta View Hospital. She said not to rush that it was okay to go home and put groceries away. I told my mom that it would be okay and I would be there soon. I cried hysterically all the way home, threw the food in the fridge as fast as I could and Corey and I got to the hospital. When I finally saw my mom and my dad, I could tell that my dad had already passed away. My mom was in hysterics and holding onto him. I continued crying hysterically and gripping onto my dads shirt and sitting on the floor of the ER. I guess they tried to revive him, but it was too late. Thinking that my dad suffered since he couldn't breath on his back is the worst part. Also, knowing that he got rid of his medical alert watch makes me angry. I also am still angry that he was able to call 911 and they showed up at the house, went through the backyard, and never tried to get inside. I am angry and sad still and I don't know how long it will take until I don't feel this way.

The only positive is that he is no longer in pain and that I know he is watching out for me. I know that he kept Jensen and I safe during my pregnancy and he kept Jensen safe during my c-section. I know that he watches out for my entire family so nothing bad will happen. I know that when I pass a class with an A that he is smiling down on me and would be telling me how proud of me he is for going back to school and not giving up no matter what - and getting good grades while doing it. My dad was also such a good reinforcer and was always there as my sound board and person I could go to for advice, especially financially. He wanted to make sure I had a plan and I wasn't in debt. He would do everything he could to help me have a good future. I know my dad would be beyond proud to know that we are making decisions and buying our first house as a family.

Daddy -  I am sorry I don't visit you, but I don't believe you are there. I believe that you are in my heart and always with me where ever I go. I love days when the sun is shining - I feel it is you telling me that you are happy and doing okay. Let the sun shine, Dad! I miss you and love you very much!

Our first {home} as three + Dakota

Looks like we are going to be home owners very very very soon!

Corey and I have been looking for a home for our little family for about a month now. We have an amazing realtor {Amie Jensen - fab last name haha} and I got her by a referral from an old neighbor who is also a co-worker. He got his short-sale house through her and just loved working with her. We have only had great things to say about her now too. She works really hard to find you everything you want and pays attention to the must-haves vs the want-haves (haha)! Corey and I put an offer in on a house in Sandy right across from Alta View Hospital (the backyard is 1300 E) on March 27th I believe and expected to hear back in 48 hours. We didn't hear anything come Thursday night so Amie said Friday. Friday came and went and she said they are waiting to hear from the bank so it will probably be Monday. Needless to say, the waiting was killing me. Plus, knowing their was multiple offers in was a bit overwhelming and not knowing if our offer of just $500 over the asking price would be enough. Monday night (last night) came and I thought it was going to go... until Amie called! I texted her at 7 saying I was feeling a little discouraged and wondering if this was normal and she called at 7:19 saying we got the house! We started some paper work tonight and hopefully everything goes smoothly from here on out. Next up is an inspection I believe.

The house is in a great neighborhood that seems really well-kept. The home (OUR home!) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is about 1850 square feet. The location is BEYOND ideal and the view is the best part about it. Plus, we are only going to be a block from my mom which is great since Marissa still watches Jensen 3x a week. The area is exactly where I grew up and what I am familiar with. I have ALWAY wanted to live in Sandy near my childhood home and now we get to. I feel so fortunate and grateful to be getting this house and living in Sandy. Jensen is going to grow up in a great area just like I did. Lucky kid! Lucky US!

Going B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Jensen finally got to start eating food other than his rice cereal. I had made homemade baby food (squash) and tried it for the first three days, as suggested, but he hated it! I tried it warm, with breast milk, etc and he still wouldn't eat more than three bits. I gave up...well, moved on. I bought some applesauce and some bananas today. I put a piece of banana in his cereal tonight and he scarfed it down! He loved it like I thought he would!

My mom bought Jensen an awesome bouncer that he got to use for the first time today and he LOVED it! I took some really cute video of him jumping like a crazy boy. I think it really wore him out too which was good for us!

Corey and I are looking for a house again. We are sick of renting here and our rent is going up $80 a month when our lease is up! Nuts! I can't believe how much it has raised since we first moved in here. We decided it was time to start house hunting again. We looked over the weekend at 5 houses but didn't see anything good. Our realtor Amie is awesome and is working really hard to find us a good home. She has shown us a lot of home that are *not* short sales and that is pretty excited since we could close and move fast if we wanted/needed. In the meantime we will probably just keep looking and when our lease is up we will do month-to-month. House hunting is hard and not very fun, but I am eager to find us something great. All the time spending looking and all the preapproval paperwork is a drag though! Hopefully it pays off... and soon!

Both of my classes that I thought were going to kill me are officially over! My economics class just wrapped up yesterday. I started one new class today (business information systems) and I start another class next Monday that I believe is business ethics or something like that. I think I am going to like both of these a lot more and I'm hoping they aren't as time consuming as the last two. Those math tests took me forever! In math I wrapped up with an B- which I won't complain about and I am not sure about econ but I will know by Sunday.

This week is Ava's first birthday and I can't believe it! I remember Anja telling me she was pregnant at my bachelorette party! Ava is now walking (although she frequently tips over still) and it is just so fun watching her progress as a little one! I can't believe how this past year flew by. I love that we have friends with kids that aren't too far apart from Jensen. Now... we just need to find time to hang out more!

Okay... off to work on my homework. The story of my life haha

Simple {update}

Not too much going on... at least that is new.

Classes are done this week and than I only have 4 more to go. Still on track to graduate July 29th! I finished math with a B- which I will gladly take. Economics final this week and than I should hopefully have the hardest classes behind me.

Jensen is my little rock star. He is so smart, funny, and lovable. He can sit by himself for awhile, he eats cereal like a champ, and loves to splash in the bath. Jensen loves time with his daddy and making silly sounds and faces at each other. You are not sleeping through the night every night, but you only wake up once (usually) so I can definitely handle that. You sleep on your stomach and I can't manage to keep you on your back for more than two seconds. You love to roll over. You have rolled from your belly to your back, but you don't do it anymore. You are super strong so I know you will get the hang of it again soon. I made homemade squash for your first baby food and you get to try that in a week! I am sure you will love it. You love food and always want to steal what your dad and I are eating and drinking. Your next doctors appointment is at six months which will be in just a few short weeks. I can't believe that you are already 5 months (and a week).

Work is good and I can never complain about my job and who I work with/for. I still look forward to coming to work every day and doing something that I feel matters.

Rollin, rollin, rollin

Jensen can now roll over from his back to his belly! He did it for the first time yesterday at his grandma Jill's house while she was tending him. He has been trying really hard for about a week now but he would get caught on his arm under his body and it would fling him back onto his back. Now, he goes so fast and his arm still gets caught under him, but he can work it out from under him. It is so funny to watch and I am such a proud mommy of all of his accomplishments. It may be something small, but it's a big deal to me! Way to go Jensen, Mama Bear loves you and is so proud of you!

{rice} cereal

Jensen had his 4 month check-up yesterday morning and everything was PERFECT! He now weights 15.3 pounds and is 26 inches long! He has grown 5 inches since he was born! He is actually in the 90th percentile for height and somewhere in the 70th percentile for weight. I thought it would have more since he eats like a piggy! The doc said he is ahead in his fine motor skills since he grabs and holds onto stuff. He also puts good weight on feet, follows toys, holds his neck up, etc. His head is perfectly round, and his ears/nose/throat all check out fine. He is one healthy and happy baby (after the shots). He got permission to start eating rice cereal so we tried it for this first time tonight and...

IT WAS A SUCCESS!

He loved the organic brown rice cereal I started him on today! He didn't like the baby spoon, but it ate all of it off my finger... and some from the spoon. He never spit it out either. He loved it and  can't wait for him to eat it every night. Hopefully it will keep him full.

The {OTHER} fab success you ask???

Jensen has now slept all through the night for 2 nights in a row! It seems that when he hits a new month something great happens. At 3 months he moved into his big boy crib and has been there ever since. Now at 4 months not only is he moving onto his first 'solid' foods, but he is sleeping through the night! Dr. O said that babies at this after are capable of sleeping through the night but a lot don't because they burn so many calories that they need a night time feeding. He said feeding Jensen the rice cereal at night before bedtime will keep him fuller longer because his belly will have to work harder to digest it.

Okay - I better get back to my homework! I HATE my econ class! Finishing week 4 of econ and week 5 of math - half way there for these ones... woo hoo!

Bulking {UP}?

So lately I have not been feeling so hot about my body. I am sure I am not the only new mom who feels this way, but it is hard watching other women "spring" right back into shape. It isn't just celebrities, but co-workers, and friends too. I have lost a big bulk of the weight, but I still have a flabby belly and huge thighs. I really thought I would have done better getting rid of this weight since I was fit before and I exercised a LOT while pregnant. I think the worst part is my stomach. Not only is it flabby (which I have NEVER had before) but the stretch marks are awful. I have them on the sides that are dark purple and red and then faint lines below my belly button. I try to remind myself that it has only been 4 months and that I need to give myself some credit, but I honestly feel like I was much more attractive pregnant than I am now. I have a hard time "getting in the mood" when it comes to Corey and I and I think it is hurting our marriage. I try to tell him how I feel, but I am not sure he 100% understands. I need to give it more time and find a few minutes each day to exercise those areas, but for tonight complaining and crying seems like the solution.

Onto a few other quick notes:
-There wasn't any posting done for nearly a month because every one in the family got really sick. Luckily mine only lasted about 4 days and Jensen was only sick for 2 with a bad fever. Corey had it first and was sick for weeks! Then it spread to my SIL and brother... awful!
-School has been incredibly hard! My macro and micro economics class is MUCH harder than my math class. Who would have guessed? I am hoping all my classes after these two are easier. I graduate in 6 months!
-Corey and I will have been together for 5 years on Feb 21st although we are both too poor to do any kind of celebrating. We don't do much for Valentine's either. Maybe we can just go on a date soon and see a movie and go out to dinner or something. We need to spend more time together - ALONE
-Work. Work has been great, but very busy. Symposium is this week and I am really excited to see my manager speak and to help with his presentation. I am excited to meet more of our clients face to face and build our business.
-Vacation. This is the most exciting part of the post! My mom wants to take our family to California! My mom moved it to the first week of August so that I can go after I graduate instead of during finals (she wanted to go over 4th of July). She already rented out a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home for all of us to stay in. I am so excited! I can't wait to take Jensen to the beach - he is such a water baby and will hopefully love it! Venice Beach here we come!
-Jensen's 4 month check up is in 2 days! I am sure he is at least 13.5 pounds but we will see. He is so big now. I hate seeing him grow out of clothes and toys that don't hold his interest, but I am proud of him and all of the developments he has already made.
-Teething? I still can't tell if he is teething or not! I am going to confirm this with the doctor. I think he is because of the crazy drool, the sucking of fingers, and biting. His gums also have changed in density, but I hear this can last months?
-Baby food. I have now decided I am going to make baby food from scratch! I bought containers for baby food to freeze in. I found a great book on homemade food and I can't wait to try it. I am sure it will get more fun as he gets older and can get more foods. People add cinnamon and other spices into their food- I am sure he is going to LOVE solids! He already seems to have such a huge interest in what I am eating.

That's it for now... gotta go do homework and I am exhausted....

Nothing creative today

So I feel like I speak too soon sometimes...
I wrote about my shingles, but the next day the Urgent Care doctor called me to tell me that I didn't have shingles and to continue to use the antibiotic but not the cream. Um, okay? What is it then? They weren't sure but were happy to put me on a steroid - NO THANK YOU! Plus, were they not listening? I am nursing! I went to my primary care doctor on the following Monday (the 9th) and he confirmed that in fact it was shingles and it was good that I finished the treatment. He told me that the way the Urgent Care people tried to test for shingles is not accurate. He said that by poking for fluid only tests if it is contagious and not actually shingles! He said they would have had to do the scrape test. Since it was pretty much gone there wasn't anything he could do, but did recommend some ointments for my insanely dry skin. At least I wasn't contagious which is probably why it didn't spread to other parts of my body or to anyone else.

Also speaking to soon.... my Bubba has been a moster lately when it comes to sleeping! Last night he was up practically every hour or two! Finally at 4 am I gave him teething tablets and he slept on my chest until 6:45 when I realized I was going to be late for work (but was dying for more sleep). This past Thursday was also really bad, but I think we were all in a funk. Corey was extremely sick and I sent him to bed with tons of cold medicine after dinner. We have a good night time routine where he puts Jensen to bed and I either go to bed too or I do homework. Jensen didn't want to go to sleep that night and didn't until 12:45 am! I think it was just because I was putting him to bed and not Corey. Clearly having a routine is a good and a bad thing!

Okay - gotta get busy! Having another 3 day weekend was awesome, but having 4 days to get a lot of work done is.... a little hard!

My sleepy boy

I have to post about how EXCITED I am that my little man is sleeping so well at night! Jensen has made a few great strides in his sleep schedule this past week or two and it deserves more than a blog post... for now this is all the attention it is getting.

For the past 5 nights Jensen has slept in his big boy crib in his room. No more bassinett for him! Also, we have implemented a bed time routine that starts between 7-8 and takes about an hour and then he goes down for the night. It usually looks like this: feed, take a bath and play in the water (which he absolutely loves!), baby massage, pjs, and another feeding. Yes, I feed him twice in one hour but it "tops" off his belly and helps him sleep longer. Corey takes him after I feed him last and he gets him down for the night. He has been sleeping for 5-6 hours for the first stretch, but last night... he slept from 9-4! 7 hours!!! I was in heaven! I of course didn't go down until 11, but that meant five solid hours for me which was pretty heavenly!

I still have the bassinett next to my bed because most of the time I will feed him in our room after he wakes in the middle of night and then set him in there to sleep for the last few hours before it is time to get up for the day.

I am so glad we are finally getting a routine and he is sleeping longer. It helps knowing when he will crash out so that I can plan on a certain time to get homework and house stuff done after he is asleep.

I love you my sleepy little man! I'm so proud of you for sleeping in your crib in your room!
Mommy loves you!

December, Shingles, February

So I decided that the month of January should be renamed to "Shingles". Yes, you read that correctly!

I got shingles on January 1st and I have never had them before and had no clue what they were. Apparently it is the chicken pox virus that is left dormant in your nerves and can spring back up at any time. LOVELY. I got them from stress I guess, which makes sense since everything have been stressing me out from school, work, money, etc.

My arm looks a little freaky. It is on my right arm and is about 2 inches by 2 inches. They are tiny bumps with a pus looking fluid inside them. It hurts like crazy! I feel I have been punched in the arm a million times because the muscles in my arm are sore. The actual shingles hurt really bad and sting/burn. The feeling stays the same all day. On Monday the 2nd I went to Urgent Care and they got me a perscription for an antiviral medicine and a topical cream to put on it.

The scary part? I could spread them to someone that already has had chicken pox or if it is a child I could give them chicken pox if they have never had them. I am trying to be super careful around Jensen because he could get pretty sick if he got chicken pox this little. I put the cream on and put bandaids over it so that you can't touch it. They only way to spread it is if the bumps open and I get the fluid inside on my hands and spread it or someone touches them directly. It has been a few days now and so far no one has gotten them and the sores are almost all open now. Hopefully it goes away soon because being contagious is scary and they hurt so bad I am ready for this to be done!

I took a picture of my arm right before going to the doctor on my Monday and when I get a minute I will load it here so you can see what they are and what they look like.

My New Year's Resolution: Lead a less stressful life!
