So today is September 30th, just one day after my doctors appointment that I was feeling a little down about. Turns out that so much can change in a day and I need to remember to stay positive and optimistic.
Turns out those contractions I was having starting at 3:30 am where not Braxton Hicks- they were/are the real deal. I timed them yesterday afternoon and they are roughly every ten minutes apart. Nothing to get too excited or too anxious about, but at least my body is doing what it needs to do to bring Jensen to us naturally. I also lost my mucuous plug last night, which is a good thing, but doesn't really signify anything when you are this far along in your pregnancy. At least it was one more thing my body did yesterday. I guess whatever Dr. B did yesterday in there really helped and hopefully Jensen will be here next week.
Today was my last day in the office and I only worked 4 hours. I am still having contractions about every ten minutes (although I have only paid attention once today) but with contractions comes MAJOR back pain. I hear that with the pain I am experiencing now I am going to have pretty bad back labor. At least there are drugs to help with the pain when I get further along! Yesterday I went home early too since I was feeling so miserable after my appointment. Today I picked up lunch and ate with my mom at the apartment, took a 2 hour nap (wow!) and then took Dakota on a long walk around the complex. I figured I should try to do two walks like that day at least until Jensen arrives. They say walking is the best thing you can do and at this point I can't get myself to go to water aerobics anymore. Now just updating the blog and working on laundry. I planned to have it done before Corey got home, but I guess I thought sleeping was more important (and at this point it is!)
I just got the Flip camcorder this week and got it all set up (it took about two minutes) and did a practice video. I looked nuts on it so I deleted it, but I was documenting where I am at today. I am glad we will have a small hand-held video recorder to use when Jensen arrives when we can capture him on live video and still images. Oh and did I mention I got the flip for under $50? Absolutely cheap and it shoots in HD! It only holds an hour of video, but you just plug it into your computer and dump your videos and then delete them off and charge it up again. Pretty simple.
Tomorrow I am getting a pedicure with my mom at Sanctuary Day Spa (there pedis are heavenly) and on Sunday I have a nail appointment in the late morning with Brecc. Jensen can come after that - when I am feeling beautiful haha! Nothing else is planned for the weekend. I will probably end up cleaning a few things here and there and resting and walking a lot. Just trying to take it easy until my little man arrives.
Jensen,
Mommy loves you and can't wait for you to get here! You are worth every ounce of ache and pain and I know it is probably not super comfortable where you are either. I can't wait to see what you look like. I am mostly curious as to whether or not you will have hair or not. I was a bald baby but your daddy had hair. Your grandma Jill said that daddy's hair was brownish-blond and was really whispy. Bald or not you will be absolutely perfect! I am also curious as to how much you will weigh. I am guessing no bigger than eight and a half pounds and a lot of family think you will be smaller than that. Looking at this big belly I think you will be around 8. It will be interesting to get your measurements and see who was right. I think you will be pretty long too - I am guessing 21.5 inches. They say that boys are usually heavier and longer. I wish I had a window in my belly to see what you look like and to watch what you do all day.
Son, I love you and daddy loves you too. We both are anxiously awaiting your arrival.
Love,
Your Mommy

Week 39 doc appt and feeling a little down
I had my 39 week doctor's appointment today with Dr. B this morning. I would say that things didn't go how I anticipated. First I want to mention that I woke up at 3:30 this morning with awful BH contractions that kept me up all morning. I probably slept for one hour from 3:30 until 7:30 because of the pain. I walked around, tried going to the bathroom, tried other positions and nothing was working. I was hopeful that all the pain was due to getting closer to welcoming Jensen and to just stick it out.
I lost two pounds this week, which is not something I am necessarily proud of, but since I am still in the right weight range I figured it was okay. Since I lost weight this week the total of gained pounds so far is 32. Not too shabby if you ask me! Hopefully I lose it quickly.
My belly measured at 38 cm and he said that my belly has been growing at roughly 1 cm per week so I am right on track (although the cm should match the week you are in). My blood pressure is still perfect, and no swelling still. I love that I am in my 39th week and I can still wear my wedding ring.
Dr. B then checked me and said I am still at 60% and that I have only dilated to a 1. Wah wah wah... I am so disappointed. I was really hoping I was going to be at a 2 or 3 this week and then to hopefully go into labor next week on my own. He was poking and proding (which hurt SO bad) and said he was doing it in hopes of helping me move further along. He moved things around as if he were stripping membranes, although I am not dilated enough to do that yet (or at least successfully). It hurt so bad I freaked out, squirmed, and about fell off the table! I was holding on for dear life though with my arms.
I am still having really bad BH contractions and Dr. B told me that if they are measurable to keep track. If they get to six minutes apart I need to go to the hospital and get monitored. I have been trying to pay attention to when the pain peeks, dies down, and then goes back again. It looks like it is about every ten minutes. I guess this may be real contractions, but just not close enough together. I will see if anything changes over the next few days. I am probably going to head home early from work today due to the pain. I can barely sit. I can barely do anything actually. I am still going to try and make it in to work tomorrow for my last day in the office. If I can do a half day tomorrow I will be pretty proud.
Jensen - I found out today that your Aunt Penni and Uncle Mario will be up here the end of October and they will get to meet you! I am really excited for that side of the family to have a grandbaby/nephew and I know they are all excited too. Your aunt and uncle live in Las Vegas so we don't get to see them often. Can't wait for you to get here and bless our families with a little life! I know the Paskett family is very excited and so if my side of the family. I wish your GPA was here to meet you, but I know he is looking out for us and will make sure you get to us safely.
Jensen,
Mommy loves you a billion and can't wait to meet you. Your kicks (although they now hurt) bring such a smile to my face. Especially on days like today when I am in pain I know that it is for the best reason in the world and that you aren't trying to hurt me. You need to be in there for as long as you can/want and I won't do anything to rush you out. Son, you are already the best thing that has happened to me and you aren't even here yet. Please know that I love you and always will. Your daddy and I are ready for your arrival so don't want too long!
Love,
Your Mommy

39 weeks and feeling VERY ready
39 weeks starts tomorrow and I am feeling MORE than ready. My body feels very tired and over-worked. The pain is getting more and more intense along with those awful BH contractions. I definitely want him to come when he is ready, but I am ready for him now!
I decided today to start my leave next Monday so my last day in the office will be this Friday the 30th. I feel like I could use a few days (or a week) of rest before Jensen makes his arrival. I think it will be calming for me too to know when I am going out so that I can change my email, voicemail, etc. and also let everyone who is covering for me know.
I went to water aerobics last night and I think it made me feel more tired and a little worse today. I know the exercise is good and I feel great when I am in the water, but everything hurts so much more today. I want to continue going to class since I think it will help with my delivery.
Wow - If I am out of here on Friday that means I have 3 full days of work left! NUTS!

Week 38 doctors appt update
The doctors appointment went well this morning. He was running behind because he had an emergency c-section, but instead of freaking out about time like I usually do, I stayed calm. I remembered that if that was me I would hope other mothers would be forgiving and understanding and I would want the doctor there for me. My appointment was at 8:30 and I got there a few minutes late. They took me back, did the normal screening things and then had me change (waste down). I was back there for a little over 30 minutes half naked, but I put the paper/plastic covering over my lap and layed down. It was actually kind of nice to be in that warm room relaxing only after working for an hour today!
Dr. B took my belly measurement, but I was so busy rambling about other things I forgot to ask how many cm I was measuring at. I told him I am having really painful BH contractions and he said it was normal and it was a good sign that my body is doing what it needs to. Next he did the exam and told me that I am now 60% effaced which is terrific! I am so glad that I made progress. In other less exciting news I gained 4 pounds in one week! I am now up to 181 pounds and have gained a total of 34 pounds since my first doctors appointment on March 1st. Dr. B (after answering a million other questions) answered my questions about induction, stripping membranes, etc. He said that he cannot srip membranes until I am at least 2-3 cm dilated, which I am not. He said if that changes next appointment he will do it. He does not schedule you to be induced until your 40 week appointment, which is what I figured, but I wanted to ask. He said that you thin out before you dilate normally so I am on the right track. Hopefully I have a lot of progress next week and start dilating. I definitely do not want to be induced unless I have to. I would prefer Jensen to come when he is ready.
I have no swelling still (anywhere on my body), minimal stretch marks, fabulous blood pressure... things are going pretty well. I am still really uncomfortable and in a lot of pain but it is all worth it and it doesn't take me much to reassure myself.... I just have to wait a minute to feel him kick and my mind is at ease. 12 days to go as of today!

Week 38
Tomorrow starts week 38. I felt every day last week dragged on yet the week was busy and went by quickly. I guess the time is still going rather quickly, but I am trying to keep myself busy and entertained so I don't sit home anticipating his arrival.
This past weekend Corey bought a 2003 Denali down in St. George and him and Curtis went and picked it up. He was gone all day so I spent the time doing laundry, relaxing, and shopping. I picked up a few more baskets for the additional bookshelf we got and black-out curtains for his room. I also bought some cute square picture frames to put above his crib since the No More Monkey's sign is not staying up (stupid textured walls). I am not going to hang them until we get the newborn pictures back from DMC (which I cannot wait to have done) and I know what I want in them.
Saturday night I went out to dinner with Anja and that was really fun. Freaked me out when she said the next time she sees me I will have Jensen. AH! Made me so nervous and so excited all at once that it scared me. I can't believe he will be here in two weeks!
Sunday was pretty lazy. Got my nails done, went to the in-laws to show them Corey's new car and eat some yummy chinese. Pretty lazy weekend. This week I have an appointment with Ken tonight, water aerobics Tuesday, followed by sushi with Corinne on Wednesday, and a double date dinner with Jackie and Zack on Thursday. Nothing planned for Friday night, but Saturday and Sunday will be busy celebrating my wonderful hubby's 30th birthday! I can't wait!
Doctor's appt is on Thursday morning and I am hoping to have made a little progress. It will be interesting to see what he has to say. Baby is now the size of a watermelon and is around 7 pounds. I think it is hard to tell what their length/weight will actually be. Doctors can guess, but they can be off by a pound (give or take) so I will just be patient and see what he actually rounds out to be. Hopefully not over 8.5 pounds because I am freaked out about pushing him out! Hahah!

Doctors appointment
Since I posted yesterday I figured I would just do a quick update today about how my doctor's appointment went.
Still no signs of swelling which is absolutely awesome. My belly is measuring at just over 36 cm which is right where I should be. I gained less than a pound in the last week (now at 177 pounds) which is great too since Jensen is getting so big in there! Heart beat sounds awesome and it makes me head over heels to know that I will be able to feel his little chest move and his heart beat closer to mine in 3 weeks. No signs of dilating and I am still at about 30% effaced which means I did not make any progress this week. I am really okay with that and know that my body has time to do what it needs to in order to get Jensen out safely. I probably won't stress about it until 39 weeks if I am not even at a one yet. Only time will tell and I can't force my body to do anything.

3 weeks and counting
Another week has flown by... although they don't feel like they are "flying" like they used to. Still feeling pretty good though. Lots of sleepless nights, hip/back/sciatica pain, but I am starting to get use to it. Also, the amount of peeing is unbelievable! I go all night long... another big reason for not sleeping.
I finished my finals last week which means that my school break officially started over the weekend and I get until October 24th. So glad that is off my mind, but I am going to have to find a way to stay busy (without over doing it) for the next few weeks so that my days don't drag. I am so used to being busy that I want to stay that way until Jensen arrives.
Last Saturday we went to a wedding for a friend (Corey was a groomsmen) and we had a good time. I was exhausted before it even started and quickly realized I should have taken an afternoon nap! I stepped in and helped with the line, setting up, getting her dressed, etc. and although I didn't anticipate helping like that I loved it. It is my dream to be a wedding planner/coordinator and helping with those steps goes to show that I can do it... even at 9 months pregnant! Hopefully I can really focus on starting my own business after I graduate next summer. By then we will hopefully have our own house and I can run my business from there. Maybe just start small so that I can still do my full-time job and be a good mom to Jensen. Nothing like dreaming, right?
Tomorrow is 37th week appointment with Dr. B. He started to check me last week and said that although I am not dialated I am 30% effaced. It will be interesting to see if I made any progress over the past week. I don't feel discouraged if I don't since some people are dialated for weeks and have there babies late and some woman don't make any progress and can get checked one day with nothing and be in labor the next. I am just going to take it as it comes and trust my body that it knows what to do and get Jensen out safely.
According to a bunch of the baby websites Jensen is now about 6.5 pounds and around 20 inches long. The last few weeks he has been about the same length (per the sites) but gaining half a pound each week. They say that he now compares to a watermelon for this last month. No wonder they reference pushing out a baby is like pushing out a watermelon! The size is the same!
I bought Jensen's halloween costume over the weekend! It is so cute - and simple! It is a black sleeper that looks like a skeleton in white - that glows in the dark! I tested it out last night in his room and it works! I thought something super simple since he will only be a few weeks old and will only be visiting his grandparent's house (and maybe a friend or two).
Feeling stressed out over the little things lately... I feel organized and ready but we still have some of the bigthings to do. Like install the carseat! I was hoping that Corey would have boughten a bigger car/SUV by now, but he hasn't. I wanted one car seat in each, but I guess I will just put it in mine for now since he hasn't had much luck. We also need to start a hospital bag which shouldn't take me long to do. There are a ton of checklists online that help you pack your hospital bag. A lot of stuff I am always using so I can't pack until I actually go into the hospital, but robes, baby clothes, socks, etc can be packed now. Plus, actually having a designated bag started is probably a good idea so we don't run around frantically trying to put something together.
Okay.... gotta keep busy!

4 weeks left!
So it has been a few weeks since I blogged. Although I have thought about it, life has become a little busy and I just haven't found the time.
Last week was nuts at work because of United Way Week. It is definitely my favorite week of the year and I love giving back, but it sure is exhausting! I bought a Dyson vacuum and I haven't used it yet but Corey has. I got a fabulous vacuum that I would never have gone to the store and bought and all the money goes to charity - win/win if you ask me!
This week is finals for school and once I make it through this week I get to take a break until the end of October, so I am eager to finish my finals. I finished one final for my science class and now I just need to finish my religion paper for humanities and of course do the regular posting. I should be able to wrap everything up by Thursday at the latest. Perfect timing I think!
Off to lunch... will write more later
Okay... back from lunch...
Tomorrow marks week 36 which means I am in the home stretch with only one month to go! I must say that the past few weeks have been pretty rough. I am in a lot of pain in my hips/back/legs and the pain just never goes away. I guess it will go away in a month though. I also can't sleep and part of it is because of pain and part because I am just so big. I also get up a lot during the night to pee so that doesn't help! I had my 36 week doctors appointment today and he said I am still right on track. I haven't gained any weight from the past appointment two weeks ago. I have now gained 30 pounds and luckily maintaining it so far. I now go weekly and will get internal exams each time. Today he said that I am not dilated at all but I am about 30% effaced (thinned out). At least my body is doing something to help this little man make his grand entrance.
