Week 26 doctors visit

I have now officially entered week 26 which also means 6.5 months along. I can't believe I only have 3.5 months and that is if this baby stays in until the day he is originally due.

I had another check up today with Dr. B and he said as usual that I am right on track. He said that I am doing fine in my weight (gained 5 pounds in 5 weeks) and my belly measures right on track. Since I don't really understand the belly measurements I didn't ask specifics. I was in and out of the office within 15 minutes from the time I peed in a cup to the time I made my next appt and walked out the door. Very fast! The only new thing... I have to do the gestational diabetes test at my next appointment. He gave me this really gross orange looking drink and he said that I have to drink it all within 5 minutes. I have to time it out just right because I have to have them draw my blood exactly one hour after I drink it. My next appointment will be at 30 weeks. It is going to be July 26th. I can't believe Friday starts July though! Time is flying! He asked about swelling and contractions, which I have not had either, and that was it. These appointments are pretty uneventful, but I still get so excited everytime I hear his heartbeat. It always puts the biggest grin on my face.

This past weekend I fnally worked on Jensen's room. I put together a book shelf and put books, baskets, toys, etc on it. I also put all of his bedding together (although I will still have to wash it later) and took all the tags and stickers off all the clothes and blankets I already got/bought. I feel I have been pretty good about not buying anything. I buy a few things here and there, but they are all the small things. I also put together a cute monkey shelf, but I haven't hung anything yet. Corey did put up the curtains and they really make the room feel more cozy - it is pretty plain in there right now. I will have to get some rugs too.

Still staying very busy with school (finals next week) and once these classes are done I have another set of 9 week classes before I take a break for Jensen's arrival. I will be done with classes on September 11th until the end of Oct when I go back. If I go back October 24th I could almost have the entire 9 week semester done before I go back to work from maternity leave. Hopefully that works out!

Lunch with my mom today to make up for missing her birthday lunch and dinner. I was so sick last week with an awful stomach flu that went around the entire family. I went home early Wednesday and stayed home Thursday. Friday I went to work, but it was hard. Glad to be feeling much better and still enjoying all the phases of pregnancy! Oh and I love the pool still!

Week 25 and he has a name!

Tomorrow marks the start of week 25 which is just absolutely nutty to me! Time is going so fast that I can barely keep up! So here are a few updates...

School is taking up all of my free time right now and I feel like I am drowning in school work. I am actually leaving work early today just to write a paper - awful way to spend the afternoon off. I would much rather be at work for the entire day.

Since I have been so busy with school a lot of other things are lacking - including Baby's room. I haven't touched it in nearly two weeks. I did buy a bookshelf online and that should arrive this week. Since that is the last big piece of furniture I needed I will be getting the wall stuff done in the next few weeks.

Father's Day was yesterday and boy was I missing my daddy. I didn't go visit him because his marker isn't done yet and so there isn't really much to see and nowhere to put flowers. It should be done in the next few weeks and I will go visit with flowers then. My family did go out to breakfast at Village Inn and that was fun. Then we went to my mom's house where we threw around baby names. Corey said he still likes Jensen which is the first name of a Formula 1 driver that we like. I realized it grew on both of us, and therefore we have a name! My family seemed to like it and so did Corey's family. We spent the evening with his family and his mom literally cooked a feast for everyone - silly lady! I would have eaten pizza, but I loved all the healthy food and homemade peach cobbler. We told everyone we already had a middle name too - Callan. It is Cal for Corey's dad and Allan for my dad's middle name. I really like it and I love that it ties our families together. JENSEN CALLAN PASKETT. Sounds like a big boy name if you ask me! Hopefully he isn't one of those kids growing up that hates his name though.

Nothing else is new- Oh... Marissa and I took a CPR/choking class on Saturday morning and that was pretty awesome. I no longer have a fear of my baby choking and not knowing what to do. Tonight is dinner with Susan who is in town for her high school reunion. It was fun to see her over the weekend and of course for her to see my bump. Speaking of bump - it is getting pretty big! I believe that week 25 he is 1.5 pounds and about 13.5 inches from head to toe. I have a feeling he is going to be a big baby though!

Okay... back to work!

Gravity

I am absolutely in LOVE with my water aerobics class. I went again on Tuesday for my second time and I am going again tonight. My goal is two times a week which is 2 hours of exercise! Woo hoo!

It is such a work out and I can't believe how sore I get in class. Tuesday there were 8 girls including myself and Jackie. Jackie seemed to like it, but being her first time she was having a difficult time with a few of the moves. I am sure if she went again she would catch on. I definitely felt more comfortable on Tuesday than I did last week and I was the only one there the first time. We did so many different things last time that I thougth they were trying to kill us! They have these big steps that stay down in the water that are used for step aerobics. Holy cow! They had us do step aerobics and side-to-side moves and then SQUATS! I hate squats and I didn't care for them much more while in the water. Everytime you stood up on the step your belly was out of the water and then you forced your weight back down into the water to do the squat. It was definitely a burner. I can't believe the ab workout I got either. It felt like my stomach was in contracting all the muscles that are currently hiding. I am sure the girls that are well into their last trimester probably panicked with that feeling thinking it was labor. I would have!

No new updates. Still feeling great with the exception of the few aches and pains that I am getting use to. I still have a lot of rib pain on my right side. I also get really bad leg cramps but that don't happen too often, or at least they haven't been. I also get hip/sciatic nerve pain. Yesterday my sciatic nerve was so bad it was making my entire leg hurt and feel numb. I have a few stretches for my sciatic nerve that help stretch it, but doesn't really get rid of the pain. Ken normally works on it though and then I feel good for a little while. My next massage isn't for another week though - I wish I could afford to go weekly! I guess I am lucky that I manage to go twice a month. Oh a great thing too is that I don't have any new stretch marks! I got a few on my thighs and my sides when I was in high school and my weight was shifting, but no new ones yet. I use a good lotion on my belly to stay moisturized and keep away the itching, but I don't like the smell and feel of the stretch mark cream. Hopefully the stretch marks stay away!

Haven't worked in Rufus' room (no, we didn't decide to name him that) since last weekend. Hopefully I will find some time to work on it this Saturday. School work has been taking up several hours every night and so I haven't had any free time- I haven't sat in front of the tv all week! My goal is to get the bookshelf I want for his room in the next two weeks so that I can start hanging up the wall decorations and have them centered above the large pieces of furniture. My other big goal is to organize his closet. We are still going to use it for storage so not much will come out, but I need room for the big bulky items. I need to be able to store his stroller in there and big boxes of diapers. Everything else will most likely have a place in his room. His dresser is as a big as mine so all of his clothes will easily fit in there. Plus, we have a big rod that doesn't have anything on it in his closet for his clothes that have to hang. It is coming together slowly... I need to take pictures of the progress and the finished product.

Okay, finish up work and off to the pool! I can't wait!

Now... here is a picture I took on June 3rd which put me around 22.5 weeks....

Week 23

Tomorrow is the start of week 23! I can't believe how time is just flying by! I really do love being pregnant right now and all the feelings you get.. all of those little kicks and punches are amazing and I wouldn't trade them for anything!

Last week I started an update but I got really busy and didn't have time to go back and edit my post. This is what else is new: I am really trying hard to keep fit and eat right. I have started water aerobics at TOSH and I absolutley love it! I am going again this week and my friend Jackie is going with me. I hope she likes it too. My arms and legs were still burning the next day. Crazy how you can get such an amazing work out in the pool without actually swimming. We did a lot of running and cross-country skiing in the water and using floating devices to work our core. I plan to go two times a week until baby comes. The price is great too - 8 classes is $25 so it is just over $3 a class! Now that is much cheaper than gym membership! I also walk every day with the dog and at work with my co-worker Christine. My eating habits not be what some consider great, but I do try to stay away from all sodium and caffeine. I also try not to eat out more than one meal a week.

I have been seeing my massage therapist Ken now every two weeks for about 2 months and I don't plan to stop that either. He pushes on my back and neck and really relieves some pain. Of course, it comes back but it is nice to know that it helps for a while. Plus, he has a strong belief that keeping hips and everything else in position will make for an easier delivery.

As I mentioned in my last post Dakota is doing great and can finally play. Corey threw the ball like crazy for her this weekend and she was so excited. She was probably curious why we stopped playing with her for so long, but we still gave her plenty of attention during that time so she knew she wasn't in trouble.

Baby's nursery is almost done! All the furniture that was in the office/guest room is now out and put somewhere else in the house or garage. Baby's furniture is all set up and in the right spots. Corey's parents bought us a crib mattress and the bedding set I wanted so once I get a mattress pad I will put it together. Right now the crib is holding a bunch of decorating items for Baby's room. The big items I still need: travel system and bookshelf for the nursery. The bookshelf I want will have a few bins in it that will hold toys and I want to put a small table lamp on top. I am not going to decorate the walls until I have all the big pieces of furniture just so everything is in the right spot and then I can center pictures, shelfs, etc over them. It is weird having our desk where our kitchen was, but I will get use to it. You can't see the tv which is a good thing since I will have to concentrate on homework for another few months. I am just glad we had enough room in our apartment to keep almost everything inside and still make it look nice. We definitely have a lot of organizing to do though!

This coming weekend is Jackie's baby shower and that should be fun. I don't know any of her family or friends, but that is okay. I am still looking forward to it. That is all I have for this weekend, but I am sure it will change. Last weekend I didn't have plans, but was super busy with family. Saturday was spent shopping and eating at the Gateway and Sunday they all came over to swim. I am so burnt even after 5 layers of sunblock! Glad the weather has finally gotten warmer though! I was sick of the rain and 60 degree weather! I will take the 70s and 80s any day!

It is MAGICAL!

I felt baby move for the first time almost two weeks ago and it was the most amazing thing! I truly get distracted with every kick and love waking up to those sharp movements. I am surprised I make it to work on time!

Corey went hunting the weekend of Memorial Day and got home on Sunday. I was wiped out that night and relaxing in a chair next to Corey when baby kicked so hard my entire belly moved! I grabbed Corey's hand and told him to feel baby. I can't believe he got to feel baby so soon after I did, but I am glad that is how it worked out. Baby kicks pretty darn hard and it is funny to watch my belly stick out in places. Nothing like feeling your baby and knowing there is life inside of you. Truly magical!

As for a few other updates: Dakota had her cardiology check-up yesterday for the first time after surgery. She is doing great and everything healed well.
