Week 11 and sick {again}

I hit 11 weeks yesterday and since Monday I have been sick with a cold. Jensen was feeling sick over the weekend and on Monday he seemed pretty awful so I took a half day off work to take care of him. Go figure - the mama got his cold after that afternoon! Other than having an awful cold (and not taking anything but Tylenol) I am doing pretty well. I do not feel as sick, although I think the medicine is just working really well. I am afraid to stop taking it yet. I am sure one day the nauseous feeling will be completely gone and then I can finally stop taking it.

Not much else but feeling crummy. I have missed a lot of work this week which doesn't make me very happy. I was trying to accrue and save as much PTO as possible for when baby came. I probably can't miss any more time off and that would give me 11 full weeks.

Okay off to meetings, but just super fast update

10 Week Super Fast Update

Work is super busy today and I always forget to blog at home. I thought I would quickly type out an update of this past week since Jensen had his 2 year old appt with Dr. O and I had my 10 week appt.

Jensen is doing well! Dr. O said he is right where he needs to be in terms of development. Jensen is in the 25th percentile for height and weight. He weighs 26.6 pounds and I believe was a little shy of 3 feet I believe. Somewhere around 34 inches I believe? I forgot already and it has only been a few days! He got a ton of shots and screamed like crazy. He wouldn't stop crying until we got outside. Poor baby. Nothing was making him happy. After shots he said "mean" and I asked if he was mad and he said YES! His shots made his legs sore and gave him a low grade fever for about 48 hours but he is just fine. He was already playing the same day like nothing happened.

My 10 week appt with Dr. B was yesterday (Thursday 1/23). Nothing new to report really. These early appointments are very basic. He went over my labs from my first appointment which everything came back as it should. I heard babies heart beat and that was it. Very simple! He was running late already first thing in the morning, but otherwise I think I was in the room for less than 15 minutes. At least these are fast appointments so I can get to work and not miss too much time.

GREAT NEWS! My employer rolled out a new maternity plan for 2014 and it will be well underway once I have this baby. 2 great things for me - 1. I get a free double electric breast pump thanks to ObamaCare. 2. I get 3 weeks paid maternity leave from CHG at 100% of my pay! That means if I want to take the full 12 weeks then I only need to find PTO/EIB for 9 weeks. I have been trying to play around with the calendar and my calculator to figure out how it is going to work. I think I will be able to easily take 11 full weeks at 100% of my pay. Much better than when I had Jensen. I only got paid for aboug 10 weeks and most of that was at 60% of my pay - short term disability. Now I don't even have to pay for short term disability if I need it now or in the future because my company pays for that too. Huge benefits upgrade for 2014 and just in time.

One piece of very bad news though - Dakota is really sick. She has been in heart failure for several months now. We have been doing a million tests and paying for 5 different medications that are costing a small fortune. December was a good month and the medicines all seemed to be working. She was playing and wasn't coughing, etc. Now, it is back and with a vengence. We have tried other medicines, uping dosages, etc. and nothing is working. The vet called me on Monday to tell me there is nothing else we can try. Corey and I have decided to keep her on all of the medicine until we decide that none of us can take it anymore and that she is suffering in one way or another. We just picked up a few months of medicine and spent $400! Eek! She can't play much without gasping for air, so I feel her quality of life is already declining. Corey and I will have to decide what our plan will be and what will be the final straw for us. For now we are just trying to keep her happy.

Announcement and 9 weeks

So, I had a friend (Courtney) make a cute shirt for Jensen two days before Christmas as a way to announce that I was pregnant and that Jensen was going to be big brother. I saw a cute design on Etsy, but sometimes I can't get myself to pay for that stuff! I contacted Courtney and she got it done just in time! I think it turned out really cute. I had him wear it on Christmas at my mom's house (immediate family already knew) and I took pictures. I figured once I was a little further along I would post the picture online. Well, I hit 9 weeks (today) and on Sunday I gave in and posted the picture on Facebook. All of my friends and family seemed very excited for us and loved the cute little boy making the announcement. This isn't the best picture, but it I still find it really cute.

I am finally starting to feel a bit better. There have been a few really bad days, but I am definitely not as sick as I was with the bug and I am not as sick as I was when I was pregnant with Jensen either. I threw up every day with Jensen and so far with this baby I have only thrown up 2-3 times and I had that bug then. I have a feeling that I am just going to stay feeling nauseated and crummy until my first trimester is up. I have no energy and could just close my eyes at any time during the day and fall asleep. I slept from 8pm until 6:30am last night and I am still ready for more sleep at 9:30 in the morning! Creating and growing a human life is literally exhausting!

I am getting so excited for my trip to Puerto Rico with my mom in March. I just had her order me a pair of coral colored capris yesterday. She said with the humidity I am not going to want to wear denim jeans. What a great excuse to go shopping! I am probably going to pull out all of my old maternity clothes this weekend and see what I want to wear again. I actually loved my maternity clothes and I am happy to wear all of them again. Most of them were just solid colors tops so they are still in style. I am sure I will buy a few outfits for the trip and then just use those as my new clothes for this pregnancy. If I go shopping it will be for essentials for this baby. I need to be better about my money this time around!

Okay - gotta get back to work. Figured I would just do a quick post. Can't believe I am already 9 weeks today! Next doctors appt is next Thursday and I am so excited. I can't wait to hear and see baby!

Signs you are pregnant

Of course from the obvious I have had a few things happen in the past few days that I have wanted to say outloud or on Facebook but I haven't announced my pregnancy to the world yet, so I will put them here.

I was watching the People's Choice Awards last night and I wasn't jealous of all those getting to meet the celebrities.... I got jealous when it was 10pm at night, the awards were over, they showed backstage.... and they were eating FROSTYS! Yes, Frostys from Wendys. I wanted one so bad I think I might have shed a few tears.

Oh and then there is going from having the major stomach flu (throw up and diarrhea for 6+ days straight) and then going to wanting to eat everything in site. My mind goes like this:
I want a bagel, oh wait- I want watermelon! Yes, watermelon! Oh wait, the bagel still sounds good. French fries!?
Yep, I ate a bagel this morning, I am currently eating watermelon (it is only 10:30am) and I am already thinking about lunch! Eating often makes me feel less sick.

Yes, I am finally getting my appetite back, but I am trying to take it easy. I ate yesterday which probably means I am going to go from diarrhea to constipated because my body hates me. At least I have an appetite and can drink water (with lemon)! Now to finish my watermelon and then water with metamucil haha!

I will have to add more funny things later but I gotta get back to work. Glad to actually be here and feel half normal again!

8 week - Raspberry

Today marks 8 weeks and I feel like death! The past 7 days I have been down with the stomach flu and haven't done much except visit the bathroom. Thursday night (1/2) I started feeling sick and went to bed before dinner. Friday I woke up feeling a bit better, but left work at 10am I felt so sick. I didn't leave my room from Friday until Sunday. I don't even think I showered. I felt miserable. Monday I stayed home from work and logged in for a few hours. Tuesday I went to work for almost 4 hours but couldn't take it anymore. That was last night... I finally gave in yesterday and called Dr. B. He said I could take immodium and just about anything else OTC that I felt I needed. Being dehydrated was too risky for me and baby. I felt awful again around 5pm and finally gave in and took some medicine. Went to bed without dinner again (nor much food all day) and finally woke up feeling a bit better. I have managed to eat some oatmeal and a few pieces of watermelon. I am starting to feel sick again and it is only 10:30am. Hopefully I can make it all day!

The morning sickness isn't getting much better either. I have thrown up a few times but I think it is from the flu and not the pregnancy. It is hard to tell though. The Diclegis that Dr. B has me taking seems to work better than Zofran still and doesn't seem to have many (or no) side effects. I still feel nauseous all the time, but not throwing up every day like I did with Jensen. Hopefully by 13 or 14 weeks I feel better. 5 weeks to go. I can do this!

Not much else is new. Corey just started another school semester on Monday so this week has been intense for him. He works (almost) full-time and has a huge school load. Hopefully he gets a good system down after the first few weeks and it calms him down a little. Being this sick and tired isn't and it is worse when I feel like I am on my own.
